We hope to show that even small vineyard parcels can create meaningful livelihoods for those who work the land.
Here is how it works:
IN THE VINEYARD
Each grower takes on the day-to-day management of a vineyard. Support is provided, where needed, in order to build their capacity to farm in a sustainable way.
Our experience so far suggests that this approach brings a significant sense of ownership.
AT HARVEST
Growers receive a share of the income generated by their vineyard, what remains is used to cover the running costs incurred during the season.
Our hope is to create opportunities for growers to be rewarded for their high quality grapes.
THE BOTTLE
Our wines reflect the hard work of a single grower. We resolved to use our label to recognise this.
Each bottle carries the name of the grower behind the wine as well as a handwritten fragment of their personal reflection of the vintage at hand.
“Supple, peppery, juicy red berry & plum fruit, refined tannins.”
Tasting notes
Red berries, aromas of allspice and fynbos.
Winemaking
Fruit was de-stemmed, crushed and fermented in a steel tank. Malolactic fermentation took place in tank. Just one punch-down and pump-over daily. Extended maceration for 21 days. 10% sun-dried stems added back into fermentation tank for structure and to enhance fruit and perfume components. Once pressed off, the wine was racked to barrels where it matured for 14 months.
Production
1800 bottles
