Made from lovely velvety Cabernet Franc, aged between 30 and 70 on average. In order to preserve the necessary balance of the ecosystem, the Caslot family works according to biological and bio-dynamic principles.
A lovely floral and blackberry fruit scent followed up with ripe falvours and pleasing acidity with enough tannin for the wine to age. Very versatile and fresh.
Saint-Nicolas de Bourgueil is situated within the larger appellation of Bourgueil on the right bank of the Loire, grown on a type of limestone soil. Wine writer Tom Stevenson notes that Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil wines tend to have a little more "finesse" than Bourgueil, often requiring 5 to 6 years of aging after bottling before they are drunk at their peak and are able to age much longer.
