Quiquiriqui Matalan Espadin Mezcal 45% 70cl

Quiquiriqui Mezcals are all single palenque, handcrafted spirits, produced in Mexico. Established in 2012, they partner directly with families who have been producing traditional Mezcals in their communities for generations.

Quiquiriqui products are made to order in small batches at the Mendez family palenque in Santiago Matatlan. They only use fully mature agave plants to make mezcals, which the family grow themselves or are grown in partnership with farmers across Oaxaca.

The agave is cooked in a 15 ton conical underground oven, wild fermented in wooden vats and double distilled in 350 ltr alembic copper pot stills - these are time honoured traditional methods the family have had in place for the last 3 generations.

Nose: Sweet agave, leather, vanilla, pepper and smoke. 

Palate: Lightly vegetal, earthy and woody notes with black pepper. 

Finish: Slightly sweet and spicy with dark chocolate.
