Kleine Zalze Family Reserve Chardonnay 2023, Stellenbosch

Family Reserve range, the flagship collection from one of Stellenbosch’s most respected wine estates. 

The focus of the range is on expressing a true sense of place, whether through single-vineyard wines or thoughtful blends from exceptional sites. In the cellar, this vineyard knowledge is paired with a continual pursuit of refinement, incorporating techniques such as amphora and concrete egg fermentation to enhance texture and purity.

The result is a collection of wines that are limited in volume and truly distinctive — wines made for special occasions, reflecting both the sites they come from and the careful decisions made throughout the winemaking journey.

The first vintage ever of Family Reserve Chardonnay was crafted from two different wards and soil types (decomposed granite, and colluvial Tukulu soils) in Stellenbosch, each contributing to the complexity of the wine. Intense and elegant, with a delicate balance of minerality underpinned by subtle nuances of oak.
