Full 50-cl bottle 949 g. 50% Malvoisie and 50% Muscat d'Alexandrie. Average age 15 years. Vincent Carreras of Domaine Odyssée collaborated with Louis Rigall of Mas Almes before he retired. This, from Carreras: 'For three years, between 2018 and 2021, before moving to the (current) Torreilles winery, I was able to set up my suitcases, or rather my vats, with Louis Rigaill, at Mas Almes, who kindly welcomed me ... At the back of his cellar, there were about forty barrels containing real treasures... old sweet wines [which] had been sleeping there for over 10 years. Louis allowed me to select the barrels of my choice and create a unique blend.'
“It smells smoky, almost like Highland whisky. Like a crofter's cottage kitchen in winter. The smell of honey and ginger nuts hot out the oven; the scent of aged pipe tobacco and peat smouldering in the hearth. It tastes like the kiss you've been longing for your whole life... So sweet, but not sweet. Orange peel and thunderstorm. Honey and tamarind. Ginger root and nutmeg on roasted quince, apricot, kumquat. The spices of Zanzibar mingling with the salt of tears. Swimming in juice and slick with slipstone minerality. Spine-splicing acidity leaving every nerve in the body twanging with a kind of exquisite, mouth-watering pain. Beyond beautiful”.
