Dame De Trottevieille 2019, Saint Emilion Grand Cru, 2nd Wine of Ch. Trottevieille

This second wine of the excellent Premier Grand Cru Classé estate Ch Trotte Vieille also has a high percentage of Cabernet Franc which really gives the wine its special character. With 46% Cabernet Franc in the blend there is a lovely coolness tot he wine that makes it so delicious and moreish. Drink now or keep, this is an excellent wine that benefits from the no expense spared attitude employed in making the Grand Vin.

93/100 Georgina hindle, Decanter "Green peppercorns, black pepper, a subtle fragrance of roses, emphasis on spice and pepper with blackcurrants. Smooth and clean, lovely purty and elegance. Where 2018 had more ripe fruit, this is slightly brighter and more tangy - more lean and crisp, with equally good tannins that support but don't overwhelm. Straight and direct, a cooler expression for sure, more menthol and stony, less wide, but just as precise. More simple and maybe a bit more pure and easy to understand for those that like fresher wines. Very pretty."
